This Town was a project between myself and The Huddersfield Gospel Choir, Savvy & Christine Avis. The lyrics for this song were taken from survey answers given from people identifying as living in or from Huddersfield.

In attempting to write a church song, I accidentally produced a song about the arrival of spring.  It includes references to place such as the following:

  1. Pagan idea of Spring being a female being - Eostre
  2. Cuckoo representing the arrival of spring in Marsden
  3. English nursery rhyme 'Hey Diddle Diddle' - "flew over the moon"
  4. Animals that I consider to embody the English countryside - owl, sheep, adder, fox, vixen
  5. Moorland
  6. Dawn chorus
  7. April showers
